A quick Note about Scale

27-09-2008
There seems to be a lot of unreasonable hostility about 40mm scale on the net, to big, to thin etc . . . .
So I've done a little thinking about it.

I am just over 6 ft tall, and my leg, just above my ankle (where it is thinnest on a MS miniature) is just 3.5 inches ‘thick’ with a thick sock wrapped around it.

If 6ft = 40mm, that would mean a realistically scaled booted leg would be just 1.9mm thick – making those Mindstalkers in boots correctly scaled (actually some of the newer ones are thicker). The Armoured miniatures are somewhat thicker still, indicating that they too are correctly scaled.

Your average 28mm Miniatures ankles are 2.5mm to 3.5mm thick on average – meaning the ‘supposedly’ more accurate 28mm Figures have kankles. Those measurements are NOT based on GW Miniatures either - their hands, feet, and kankles are even more exaggerated!

People on various Forums complain that European figures are too skinny, not really.

Its apparent that UK and US Figures simply are too fat . . . . .
